THE MAINTENANCE PROCESS

Ten meticulous steps to restore your timepiece to perfection

01

REGISTRATION, IDENTIFICATION, AND DIAGNOSIS

As soon as your luxury timepiece arrives at MaisonDesigners, it is meticulously registered and photographed, and your personal observations about its timekeeping are carefully noted. Our expert team matches your watch’s unique identity with our database, ensuring the highest level of service. If an estimate is not immediately approved, our skilled watchmakers will conduct a thorough examination to provide a comprehensive assessment.

02

DISASSEMBLY AND PRE-WASHING

After removing the strap or bracelet from the case, we open the watch and remove the movement. The movement is entirely disassembled and pre-washed, and each component is meticulously examined. If any parts show signs of premature wear or risk affecting the mechanism’s function, they are replaced.

WASHING

Each movement component undergoes a thorough cleaning process in our Teflon washing containers. They are then placed in ultrasonic baths to remove grease and dirt completely, ensuring the highest level of cleanliness.

ASSEMBLY AND LUBRICATION

Lubrication is essential to limit friction between mechanical parts, reducing energy loss and wear. Our skilled watchmakers use up to a dozen different oils and greases when assembling the movement, determined by the stability coefficients specific to each component.

06

DIURNAL RATE ADJUSTMENT

We run your watch for 24 hours to stabilize the movement, and adjust the balance inertia and isochronism in five positions. This simulates real wear conditions and ensures that the rate results comply with the Manufacture’s standards.

OPTIONAL POLISHING

During the optional polishing stage, our team disassembles the case and bracelet to replace any worn components. The case and bracelet are then polished with the utmost care, respecting the original design.

CASING UP

The movement fitted with its dial and hands is carefully inserted and secured into the case. After a final visual inspection, our watchmaker completes the casing up by tightening screws or pressing the caseback firmly in place.

FINAL QUALITY CONTROL

Your luxury timepiece undergoes a rigorous technical, functional, and aesthetic inspection for up to twelve days, ensuring that it meets our high standards. Water resistance is tested to ensure that it lasts for at least two years. These criteria are identical to the ones governing the quality control of a new watch at our Manufacture. The results are recorded and archived, providing an exhaustive overview of the work history carried out on your watch.
